Insurance FAQ
Will filing a hail/wind claim get my policy canceled?
In Kentucky, an insurer generally can’t cancel mid-term just because you filed a legitimate claim, and they can’t cancel or nonrenew solely because of a natural-cause hail or wind loss you couldn’t prevent. If they nonrenew, they still need proper written notice with a real reason — not just “weather” or “claims.”
What if they drag their feet?
Carriers have to investigate and settle in good faith. After proof of loss, unreasonable delay can trigger interest and other remedies under Kentucky law.
